Home Design It is frustrating to have a failing HVAC system when the weather is at it’s peak.Learning as much as possible about HVAC systems prior to contacting a professional will help you choose the best way to locate the right company to repair old equipment or install new. Read on to do this.

Know the name and type of system before looking for a repair person. This will enable you know that you’re able to give your chosen contractor the information they might need.

If your HVAC doesn’t seem to be working properly, take a tour of the house prior to calling a professional. This will help the contractor determine what the problem is and how to fix it.

Clean the fan blades and coils come spring. Clean off any leaves or debris from your condenser unit.

Turn the power off first so you don’t get hurt or break something. Next, pop the grill off, pull out the blades and start cleaning them and the unit itself off gently.

Don’t get grass clippings pile up against your outdoor condenser. Aim your grass clippings in a direction away from your unit. This also applies when you are taking care of the leaves in debris.

Your HVAC unit may suffer when your trees start to lose their leaves. Make sure the fan’s grill is cleaned often once nearby trees start shedding their leaves. The air needs to be unobstructed into the fan, and extra blockage can later develop into more serious problems.

Put outdoor unit in the shade.

Have the HVAC system serviced at least yearly. This should be checked often for debris and the spring.

It is a good idea to swap out single pane windows for double panes. This also helps keep it warm in during the winter months.
